Hunting and Fishing

If anything represents the true essence of northern Ontario, it is that of a solitary fisherman on an isolated lake, wrestling a pickerel into the boat. Or hearing the geese come in while standing in a blind on a frosty October morning.

Fishing is a special part of living in the north. In Kirkland Lake, we are blessed with an abundance of different species, including Splake and Aurora trout. Be sure to consult the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry before embarking on your adventure.  A summary of regulations can be found here. One of the best resources for fishing is Fish ON-Line. The site will help you find a good spot and give you a few hints on how to be successful.

Hunting  has always been part of our way of life in the north. In Kirkland Lake, opportunities abound for both small and large game hunting. But please, follow the rules: be seen not heard, be safe not sorry, and never, never waste game. Hunting is strictly regulated in Ontario as well. Be sure to consult the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry before embarking on your adventure.  A summary of hunting regulations can be found here.
