Around the Region

A short drive from Kirkland Lake introduces you to a wealth of natural wonders and cultural experiences.

Heading east? Visit Crystal Beach for a day of fun. Enjoy spectacular fishing and boating on Larder Lake. They hold annual fishing derbies that are fun for the entire family. A bit further east is McGarry Township, gateway to Mount Cheminis and the crossing into Quebec. Staying on the highway will take you to Rouyn-Noranda where you can explore the shopping and culture in one of Quebec’s most northerly cities.

Heading north? Camp overnight at Esker Lakes Provincial Park and then take in the fun and festivities at Timmins Great Kayak Challenge, Cochrane’s Bon Homme Winter Carnival or Kapuskasing’s famed Lumberjack Festival.

Coming in from the South? Take an extra day to explore all that Lake Temiskaming has to offer, from picturesque Quebecois villages on the eastern shore to the silver mines and farming communities on the western shore.
